KATHY BOROUGHS MS, CCC-SLP
Kathy Boroughs is a certified speech-language pathologist with a Masters in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Hawaii with more than 30 years experience in the field. She has worked in public schools, clinics and hospitals, and is now in private practice.
She maintains certification in the American Speech & Hearing Association (ASHA) and is a licensed practitioner in the state of Washington. She is also a member of the Washington Speech and Hearing Association (WASHA) and the International Dyslexia Association (IDA).
Kathy Boroughs has special interest and expertise in the evaluation and treatment of disorders of reading and written language. She has training and experience with Lindamood-Bell Learning Systems (including LIPS and Visualizing and Verbalizing), the Language! Curriculum, LETRS (Louisa Moats), SPELL, Rewards, and incorporates the teaching principles of the Orton-Gillingham Method.
Her work is also highly influenced by nationally recognized reading disabilities research conducted at the University of Washington.
Kathy Boroughs also has special interest and training in teaching writing to students with and without learning disabilities and uses methods and materials from EmPower, Step Up to Writing, The Landmark School writing materials and Language!
